Joe Beattie is a highly accomplished aviation executive with more than 42 years of international experience in airline and airport ground operations, customer service, and operational leadership. Throughout his distinguished career, Joe has held senior management and executive positions with globally recognized organizations including Qatar Airways, Ryanair, Virgin Atlantic, Heathrow Airport Ltd, British Midland Airways, and SalamAir. His expertise spans airline start-ups, operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) projects, crisis management, and large-scale ground operations. Joe has also served as a CAA Nominated Post Holder in the United Kingdom, Qatar, and Oman, where he was entrusted with overseeing complex operational and regulatory responsibilities across multiple international markets.  

Over the course of his career, Joe has successfully led and transformed airline and airport operations on a global scale. He played a key leadership role in the successful launch and AOC approval of SalamAir in Oman, where he established the airline’s Ground Operations department from the ground up. He also contributed to the start-up of Maersk Air Cargo UK and led major customer service and operational transformation initiatives at Heathrow and Gatwick airports. During his tenure as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Airports Ground Operations and Customer Service at Qatar Airways, Joe was responsible for worldwide operational performance, customer experience, and financial accountability across an extensive international airport network. His ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and deliver operational excellence has earned him a strong reputation throughout the aviation industry.  

Outside of his professional achievements, Joe is recognized for his collaborative leadership style, strong interpersonal skills, and passion for mentoring and developing teams. Having worked extensively across Europe and the Middle East, he brings a global perspective and a deep understanding of multicultural business environments. Joe has completed advanced professional training in Safety Management Systems (SMS), Centralised Emergency Response, Dangerous Goods, and EU aviation operational regulations. He remains deeply committed to innovation, operational efficiency, and the continued advancement of airline and airport operations worldwide.
