Christopher Wood MBE is a respected accessibility advocate, aviation advisor, and governance professional with extensive experience working across the aviation, regulatory, accessibility, and consumer sectors. Over the course of his career, Christopher has held advisory, trustee, and leadership roles with organizations including the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Department for Transport, Heathrow Airport Advisory Group, Wilson James, Air4All, Blue Origin, and the Crystal Cabin Awards. He is also the Founder of Flying Disabled, a voluntary organization dedicated to improving accessibility and equality for wheelchair users and disabled passengers within the aviation industry. Earlier in his career, Christopher successfully founded and managed Video Services of Watford Ltd, a family retail and electrical services business, which he led for nearly four decades before its successful sale. His professional expertise spans public policy, governance, regulatory engagement, stakeholder relations, accessibility strategy, and advocacy.
Throughout his career, Christopher has played a significant role in shaping accessibility discussions and policy development within the aviation industry. Through Flying Disabled, he has worked closely with government ministers, airlines, airports, regulators, and international industry stakeholders to advocate for harmonized accessibility legislation and improved operational practices for disabled travelers. He has served on the Civil Aviation Authority Access Advisory Panel, contributed independent expertise to the UK Department for Transport’s accessibility strategy initiatives, and participated in the Air4All Consortium alongside regulators and certification bodies to develop innovative accessibility solutions for aircraft cabins. In 2024, Christopher was also invited to join Blue Origin’s Accessibility Space Passenger Team, contributing to early discussions on accessibility in future space travel. His leadership and advocacy have earned him recognition as a trusted voice in accessibility, consumer rights, and inclusive transportation policy.
Outside of his professional work, Christopher is known for his approachable leadership style, commitment to public service, and passion for improving accessibility and inclusion for future generations. He continues to support charitable and community initiatives through trustee and advisory positions while remaining active within the aviation and accessibility sectors internationally.
