Neel Jones Shah is a globally recognized aviation and airfreight executive with extensive leadership experience across the airline, logistics, and transportation industries. Over the course of his career, he has held senior executive and board-level positions with leading global organizations including Flexport, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Global K9 Protection Group, and AirBlox. Most recently, Neel served as Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer at Flexport International, where he helped lead the company’s global air cargo strategy and operations and manage the company’s relationship with its strategic customers. Prior to Flexport, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Cargo Officer at Delta Air Lines and previously served as Vice President Cargo at United Airlines. With decades of experience managing large-scale international cargo operations, Neel is widely respected for his expertise in commercial strategy, network planning, revenue optimization, marketing, and digital transformation within the global aviation industry. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Neel has been a Senior Advisor to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for the last 13 years and has worked on numerous complex global cases for the Travel and Tourism, Aviation, Infrastructure and Private Equity Practices.
Throughout his career, Neel has successfully led major business growth and operational transformation initiatives across the global airfreight sector. At Flexport, he built a Pacific freighter operation consisting of three B744F freighters connecting multiple Asian origins to key destinations across the United States. During his leadership at Delta Air Lines, he helped overhaul the company’s commercial cargo organization, strengthened the Delta cargo brand, and introduced new levels of talent development and operational performance. Under his direction, Delta Cargo increased revenues by more than $425 million between 2008 and 2012 while also reducing average handling costs by 19% over a three-year period. At United Airlines, Neel drove significant financial improvements by growing cargo revenues by $145 million and increasing net margins despite flat capacity growth. In addition to his executive leadership roles, Neel has served on several influential industry boards and committees, including Airlines for America (A4A), the IATA Cargo Committee, and the Board of Governors for The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA).
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Neel is known for his forward-thinking leadership style, global perspective, and passion for innovation within the aviation and logistics industries. He has built a reputation for fostering high-performing teams, driving strategic growth, and helping organizations navigate complex global markets. Neel holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Swarthmore College.
